Starbucks, Seattle, Washington, has been assigned a patent (9,877,495) developed by Christopher Charles, Seattle, Washington, for a “method of making a sweetened soluble beverage product.” The abstract states: “Present embodiments generally relate to a sweetened soluble beverage component and a single-serve beverage cartridge for use with a single-serve coffee brewer. In some embodiments, the cartridge includes a cup, a lid and a single serving of sweetened soluble beverage component.”
