Providence, RI: Dave’s Coffee, a Rhode Island based coffee roaster, is celebrating Pride 2018 with a unique offering. Adam Bonaccorsi, the head of the coffee program at Dave’s Coffee, wanted to do something special for Pride Month while coming up with a way to give back to the local LGBTQ community in Rhode Island.
While sampling and profiling coffees Adam came up with the idea to do a limited coffee offering for the month of June, the Big and Fruity. This blend comprised of beans from Ethiopia embodies the name with bold notes of fruit. Understanding that creating connections and building community is a cornerstone of the coffee industry, Dave’s Coffee wanted to provide support to a demographic that often gets marginalized. Partnering with Youth Pride Inc. of Providence, Dave’s Coffee is arranging to donate a portion of the proceeds to the local non-profit believing it crucial to support youth organizations.
Youth Pride Inc. is an organization that services the youth and young adults of Rhode Island impacted by sexual orientation and gender identity/expression and reinforcing the values of leadership, affirmation, and community. Dave’s Coffee will be donating 10% of the sales of The Big and Fruity blend as well as proceeds from other Pride themed merchandize designed and contributed to by the Dave’s Coffee staff.
InterAmerican Inc., the importer supplying the green coffee for the blend, has also generously agreed to a dollar-to-dollar match up to $500 in donations.
The Big and Fruity will be available starting June 1st at both retail locations (5193 Old Post Rd, Charlestown, RI 02813 and 341 S Main St, Providence, RI 02903) as well as online (www.davescoffee.com).
