Café Grumpy Opens in New York City’s Financial District

Brooklyn, NY — Brooklyn-based Café Grumpy announces the opening of its eighth location at 20 Stone Street in Manhattan’s Financial District.

Co-Founder Caroline Bell states, “As an independent business, expansion is always a challenge and we have to be very selective with the locations we choose. 20 Stone Street stood out to us not only because of the historical significance of the neighborhood, but also because of its convenience for so many hard-working coffee-drinking New Yorkers!”.

This location offers full espresso, coffee and tea menus alongside morning and afternoon pastries. Seating is available for those who want to take a break from the bustle of nearby Broad Street or to stop by for a quick meeting.

The design of the café uses natural materials, warm lighting and classical details. Architect Cemre Durusoy, co-founder of OfficeFortyOne, writes, “Upon removing the partitions and dropped ceilings we discovered that the café was located in the original conference room of the 1930’s Stone & Webster, Inc office. The design of the café restores the grandeur and elegance of the original space while maintaining the inviting, friendly vibe found in the other Café Grumpy locations.”

Café Grumpy Financial District will be open Monday through Friday 6am to 8pm and weekends 8am to 6pm. It is located near Battery Park and Wall Street and accessible by the R, W, 4, 5, J, Z, 2 and 3 subway stations.
This opening marks the beginning of a year of expansion for Café Grumpy. They have also just signed a lease for their first location outside of New York City – in Miami, Florida. The Miami location is slated to open Summer 2017.
