The sixth annual US AeroPress Championship will be hosted by Coffee Supreme and La Marzocco at the La Marzocco Cafe at KEXP at 472 1st Ave. N in Seattle, WA on Wednesday, September 6th at 7:00PM. Spectators are enthusiastically welcomed and the event costs just $1 to attend (tickets are available here: us-aeropress.eventbrite.com). Competitors from across the US will go head-to-head in heats to see who can brew the best cup of coffee using an AeroPress coffee maker. Attendees should look forward to the full “AeroParty” experience, complete with food trucks, free beer, live music and full-blown camaraderie. AeroPress, Inc., makers of the AeroPress coffee maker, will fly the winner to Seoul to represent the US in the 2017 World AeroPress Championship in November.
The World AeroPress Championship (WAC) circuit is getting back to its roots in 2017: hosting more events, bringing more people together, and bringing the competitions to where those people are. This year sees no fewer than nine qualifying US regionals taking place across the United States, from Billings to Bellingham, Texas to Tampa, Honolulu and beyond. The WAC has partnered with an able, willing, and enthusiastic cadre of hosts all eager to bring their local coffee communities together for a night of light-hearted and spirited AeroPress action.
The US-made AeroPress was invented by Stanford engineering lecturer Alan Adler. The WAC, now in its tenth year, is a grassroots event which has grown to nearly 60 national competitions worldwide. Past World Championships have taken place in Dublin, Seattle, Rimini, Melbourne, Portland (OR), Milan, London, and Oslo (twice). The Championship was founded in 2008 by world-famous coffee experts Tim Wendelboe and Tim Varney in Oslo, Norway.
