The recovery of global coffee consumption will be led by Asia, primarily India and China, in the future, according to Jose Sette, Executive Director of the International Coffee Organization (ICO). ICO is concentrating on enhancing domestic consumption in producing countries, so that coffee cultivators are unaffected by low prices and market volatility. The country should duplicate the world’s largest producer Brazil, where 40 percent of the output is consumed locally. For this, Sette said the private sector should fund the promotion of coffee in India.
