As a chemical engineer with a computer science background Christman managed to brew his childhood passion into a successful specialty coffee business in Boulder. His Dragonfly Coffee Roasters has consistently won praise for its taste, flavor and aroma, and its dedication to sustainability.
Christman’s business recently was named the 2019 Micro Roaster of the Year by Roast magazine.
Dragonfly Coffee Roasters efforts to support coffee producing communities, to educate coffee farmers about sustainable growing practices, and provide generous benefits to employees, in addition to roasting coffee beans that produce a “tasty” cup of java, earned the business the Roast magazine honors, said the specialty trade magazine’s spokeswoman Emily Puro. Dragonfly’s coffee was tasted by two sensory labs using the “cupping protocol” developed by the Specialty Coffee Association, Puro said.
