Milwaukee Is getting A Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea From Chicago

Chicago-based Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea is expanding to Milwaukee. It will open at 916 E. State St. in summer, on the first floor of the new Vantage on the Park Apartments, a spokeswoman said.

That’s the former Park East Hotel, which was sold in 2017 and is being converted to 96 apartments. Renters are moving into units on the completed upper floors of the five-story building, and remaining construction is to be completed in a few weeks.

Fairgrounds makes pour-over coffees and espresso drinks using beans from a number of roasters across the country, such as Stumptown from Portland, Ore., Dark Matter from Chicago, Toby’s Estate from Brooklyn and Spyhouse from Minneapolis.

Most cafes use coffee beans from one roaster; an exception in Milwaukee is Alderaan Coffee at 1560 N. Water St., which rotates selections from roasters across the U.S.
