The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, one of the largest pensions in the world, recently made some big changes in its U.S.-traded stock investments.
Ontario Teachers’ more than doubled its holdings of BlackBerry stock (ticker: BB), and made large reductions in Walt Disney (DIS) and Starbucks (SBUX) in the fourth quarter. The pension disclosed the trades, among others, in a form it filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The pension, which managed $201.4 billion in net assets as of June 30, 2019, didn’t respond to a request for comment on the transactions. Ontario Teachers’ was recently overfunded—it had $1.04 in net assets for each $1 in liabilities as of Jan. 1, 2019.
