MANILA –For the first time ever, Philippine coffee beans will be featured at the World Barista Championship to be held in Boston starting Friday, April 12 as Philippine representative Michael Harris Conlin vowed to bring his passion for coffee front and center.
Conlin, a consummate coffee geek, lives and breathes coffee. He is currently the CEO of Henry & Sons, a company that used to manufacture abaca rope but made the transition to the coffee business in 2001. Back then, the company exclusively traded imported coffee beans. But 18 years later, it has made the transition to having a mix of 30% local beans and 70% imported beans with the intent of trading 100% local beans one day.
