Safe Embrace Supports Sexual Assault Victims With Denim Coffee Sleeves

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Safe Embrace is hoping to acknowledge the issue on Wednesday, April 24, otherwise known as Denim Day.

Denim Day is an international protest responding to the Italian Supreme Court’s overruling of a rape conviction in 1999. To shed light on the day, the local non-profit created coffee sleeves made out of denim.

Volunteers and interns at the organization spent hours hand-making dozens of denim sleeves. This is the first year Safe Embrace has made the coffee sleeves. Last year, volunteers made ribbons in support of Denim Day and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
