At Lady Falcon Coffee Club, Buffy Maguire and her team of baristas serve espresso and filtered coffee drinks out of a renovated bread truck parked at the top of Alamo Square Park in San Francisco. They also sell bags of their roasted coffee at several Bay Area grocery stores and through their website.
A couple of decades ago, coffee evolved from fuel to fashion. Discussions of origin, roasting style and brewing method sidled up alongside “regular or decaf?” in our daily caffeine transactions. Coffee ascended to the same corner of our popular food culture as wine: the smoky VIP section where many of us are afraid to say the wrong thing.
