Cheap Coffee Prices Will Not Last Long


Coffee futures that trade in the Intercontinental Exchange have traded in a range from $1.15 to $1.25 per pound since early March. Abundant supplies of Arabica coffee beans from Brazil, Columbia, and other producing nations have weighed on the price of the ICE futures contract.

Weather and crop disease are the primary determinate for the price of coffee each year. Over the past decade, the price has been as high as $3.0625 and as low as $1.0095 per pound, so at the $1.20 level on May 25, the price of coffee beans is a lot closer to the lows than the highs.
