Seattle’s Coolest Coffee Cafe Celebrates Its Italian Roots


La Marzocco helped fuel this country’s coffee culture, dating back to the late 1970s when Kent Bakke and a food-curious business partner traveled to Italy, looking for commercial espresso machines to import. Those beautiful, hand-crafted machines became the gold standard in coffee houses from coast-to-coast and later helped Starbucks launch its global expansion in the 1990s.

So, it seems perfectly fitting that a cafe concept launched by the company in 2016 — one that shines a spotlight on a rotating lineup of coffee roasters — is now featuring Ditta Artigianale, an Italian specialty coffee roaster at its stylish space in KEXP‘s community gathering place.
