Coca-Cola of the US is aiming at making India its third largest market globally. India is now the sixth largest market for Coca-Cola globally. The per capita consumption of Coca-Cola beverages in India is 14 units, said the company. Coca-Cola India is planning to launch low or no sugar variants of existing drinks, fruit based beverages and new
products in 2017. The company will focus on ready-to-drink tea and coffee, sparkling, dairy/juice/water/enhanced water and energy drink offerings. Coca-Cola’s business in India is lagging very much behind China – the fifth largest market for Coca-Cola. China consumes 39 units of Coca-Cola, which is 150 percent higher than 14 units consumed by India. Mexico tops in the consumption parameter with 745 units, followed by US at 401 units, Japan 182 units, and Brazil 241 units. The company’s India business has 65:35 percent ratio with respect to fizzy and non-fizzy drinks.
