After less than a year, a merger between RedEye Coffee and Catalina Cafe is being severed in what appears to be an amicable corporate divorce.
Mark McNees, founder of RedEye, a Tallahassee-based organic coffee company, said the two parties will operate under their individual brands in separate locations, although Catalina coffees will be sold in RedEye cafes.
“Business is a lot like basketball,” McNees said, in a statement to the Tallahassee Democrat. “You have one foot grounded in where you are, and the other one pivots as necessary. Sometimes you find an opening, and sometimes you don’t. So, you pivot again.”
