Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX) traded 37,222tns of commodities worth 2.2 billion Br in October 2017. Coffee dominated the floor in terms of volume and value.
During the month, 27,212tns of coffee, 990tns of pea beans, 8,990tns of sesame seeds and 30tns of green mung beans have been transacted. Coffee is still on the top contributing 73.11pc and 87.29pc of volume and value, respectively.
Last month coffee prices increased by eight percent compared to the previous month. Its volume and value have also increased by 58pc and 68pc, respectively.
The traded volume and value of pea beans increased by 40pc and 36pc, where as price of sesame surged by 12pc. A total of 8,990tns of sesame was traded for 265 million Br. Humera Gonder sesame managed to control the largest share of the market, accounting for 68pc and 70pc of volume and value, respectively.
A total of 990tns of round white pea beans were sold for 15 million Br, a 40pc and 36pc increase in volume and value from the last month.
