Lancaster County coffee roaster finalist in Good Food Awards

A Lancaster County coffee roaster is vying for a top food award.

Square One Coffee is a finalist in the 2018 Good Food Awards, which recognizes craft food producers across the country. The company is competing against two dozen coffee roasters in the contest’s coffee category.

Finalists were chosen from 2,057 entries representing more than a dozen categories.

Winners will be announced on Jan. 19 in San Francisco.

This year, Square One entered its Ethiopia Shakiso Mormora, which the micro-roaster said will soon be available for sale on its website.

Square One is a repeat winner in the contest, having won in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The company began in 2000 in Lancaster and has spread east to Philadelphia where it operates two satellite retail coffee shops at 1811 JFK Blvd. and 249 S. 13th St.

The awards recognize producers in 15 categories including beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, cider, coffee, confections, honey, oils, pantry, pickles, preserves and spirits. New this year is a preserved fish category.
