— A craft coffee shop with exotic brews on tap will soon open in a commercial plaza near Florida Atlantic University and a third franchise of a local coffee chain will also open soon.
The Organic Bean Co., which will offer coffee from around the globe “on tap,” will open at The Shops at University Park just east of Florida Atlantic University. The shop is the first business venture for Florida Atlantic alumnus Tiffany Hakim, who developed the concept during her post-graduation travels.
“You can pick whatever brew you like and it’s all organic,” Hakim said of the shop, at 141 NW 20th Street, which she expects to open later this month.
The hot, iced and nitro brews will be available self-serve. Hakim calls it “revolutionizing the way the coffee is served.”
The beans are curated from several countries, such as Brazil and Peru.
“I travel a lot,” Hakim said. “And I find the best coffees from different countries.”
The second coffee shop soon-to-open in Boca Raton is a couple miles north of the Lynn University campus on Military Trail near Yamato Road.
It will be the third location of R1 Coffee, which has two shops downtown that opened this year.
According to R1’s website, the new location will open at the plaza at the northeast corner of Military Trail and Clint Moore Road.
The coffee beans at R1 are also culled from several countries.
Their beans are purchased directly from growers, cutting out the middle man and giving the coffee shop owners more control over the quality of their goods, the owner told The Palm Beach Post earlier this year.
It isn’t clear yet when the new location will open.
