CANAL FULTON Jeff Sayers said he and his wife, Jackie, opened Christian Coffee Cup so folks could have a warm, comfortable place for fellowship.
About two years ago, the couple were having a morning devotion at home when the idea popped up in conversation.
“We said, ‘Why can’t we make a place where other people can go to have this,’” said Jeff Sayers, manager of the new shop. “It’s just a Christian atmosphere (here) and place where people can feel at peace.”
A quiet, quaint setting allows customers to read a book, magazine or browse their cellphone. Religious and holiday hymns are played at a low volume.
“It’s kind of cool to just do this for everybody,” Jackie Sayers said.
According to Jeff Sayers, word has been spreading rather slowly about the nonprofit shop, which aims to raise funds to purchase hygiene products for folks in need. Little has been done the last couple of weeks to generate buzz about the coffee shop.
