Fisher House Foundation is best known for the network of comfort homes built on the grounds of major military and Veterans Affairs medical centers nationwide, as well as in Europe. These homes are donated to the military and Department of Veterans Affairs. The purpose behind these homes is to enable family members to be close to a loved one to support and comfort them during the hospitilization for a combat injurt, illness, or disease. These homes are in close proximity to medical centers.
Each Fisher House has between 8 and 21 suites between 5,000 and 16,000 square feet. Each house can accommodate between 16 and 42 family members. Each suite has private bedrooms and baths to accommodate each family. However, the families share a common kitches, laundry facilities, a large dining room, and a living room equipt with toys and a library.
The Fisher House Foundation ensures that there is no fee to stay in one of these homes. An estimated amount of about $200 million out of pocket costs for transportation and lodging has been saved from military, verterans, and their families since 1990. Over 180,000 families have been served since 1990 as well.
Homeland Filters has also made a big impact on the Fisher House Foundation. They reviewed charities and Fisher House Foundation stood high above with 96 percent of their revenue going to programs that help Military Families. Homeland Filters then decided to “pay it forward.” Their customers will be acknowledged for their contribution to Fisher House as a benefit to their Homeland Filter Purchase.
