Shannon Cheney Joins Coffee Lab International

Holly Alves - Shannon CheneyWaterbury, VT – Coffee Lab International, a specialty coffee sensory laboratory, research and development center, is pleased to announce that Shannon Cheney has joined their team as Lab Director. Shannon comes to CLI with over 20 years experience working in the coffee industry, most recently at Keurig Green Mountain. A certified Q Grader for both Robusta and Arabica coffees, Shannon brings her cupping and tasting skills to the table along with beverage research and development knowledge, product quality and sensory program management for multiple customers and manufacturing facilities. She will lead the sensory team in daily cuppings and weekly analytics. “We are very pleased to welcome Shannon on board,” said Mané Alves, Founder of Coffee Lab International. “Finding someone with the sensory memory ability to be an outstanding coffee copper is not easy. That combined with her general coffee and beverage knowledge along with her leadership
capabilities makes her the perfect candidate.”
Cheney, who has lived in Vermont most of her life, now resides in Calais with her two
daughters. “I’m excited about this new opportunity at CLI,” explained Shannon. “Given the company’s
plans to build the new coffee lab and roastery in the coming year means they are poised for growth.”
Coffee Lab International was founded in 1997 as a specialty lab facility that tests and analyzes
coffees for multi-national customers. Its sister company, Vermont Artisan Coffee and Tea, Co., is a
specialty coffee roaster, offering high quality, fresh-roasted whole bean coffees and specialty teas.
