Birch Coffee Announces New Shop Opening in Lower Manhattan’s New York by Gehry Building

Sacha Bell - BirchCoffee3NEW YORK, NY, MARCH – Birch Coffee announces the opening of their newest coffee shop located in the New York by Gehry Building in Lower Manhattan. Opening on March 22, 2016, shop seven in the Birch collection will become the first retail tenant in the Gehry tower, the 76-story skyscraper that was Frank Gehry’s first New York City residential project. Birch’s simple style and aesthetic will complement the building’s blend of timeless modernity. The store’s design evokes Birch’s environmentally conscious ethos featuring reclaimed wood, a countertop clad with repurposed steel, and repurposed tables from the original store.

Echoing the neighborhood’s enterprising spirit, the shop will feature a new technology: the Sanremo Opera espresso machine. The first espresso machine to be designed by champion baristas, designers, and coffee industry technicians, the Sanremo Opera allows greater control over the espresso process and showcases Birch’s beautifully grown and processed coffee to the founders’ exacting standards. The shop will be located in the Southwest corner of the tower at 8 Spruce Street with an entrance on Beekman Street.

Serving and selling coffee manually roasted at their Long Island City roast house, Birch founders Jeremy Lyman and Paul Schlader strive to use coffee as a medium for bringing people together. Birch Coffee now operates seven stores in Flatiron, West Village, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Murray Hill, Long Island City and now Lower Manhattan. The Birch entrepreneurs continue weaving their dream of providing great coffee and excellent customer service into a New York success story.
