Sixth Annual World AeroPress® Coffee Brewing Championship.

Melbourne, Australia – The sixth annual World AeroPress Championship will be held at the Australian Barista Academy at 300 Rosslyn Street in Melbourne, Australia on Friday May 24th, 2013 at 7:00PM on the first floor. This is the first year the event is being held in Australia.  Five previous championships were held in Oslo (twice), London, Milan, and the United States.

Four of the fifteen competitors will be the top two finishers each from the New South Wales (Australia) AeroPress Championship, which will be held on the 18th of May, and the Victoria (Australia) AeroPress Championship, which will be held on the 20th of May.  The other eleven have flown into Melbourne from Poland, Korea, the UK, Sweden, the USA, Ireland, Belgium, Hungary, Norway, Denmark, and Japan. The Nordic Approach will supply coffee from the Gikanda Cooperative in Nyeri, Kenya for the competitors to use.

The US-made AeroPress coffee maker was invented by Stanford engineering lecturer Alan Adler, who also invented the Guinness World Record setting Aerobie® flying ring.  With the AeroPress coffee maker, the user controls all the variables of the coffee brewing process.  Knowledgeable users get creative and use this control to tailor the brewing process to bring out the best in a particular coffee.  It’s the process control possible with the AeroPress together with the imagination of coffee expert users that fuels the competition at the World AeroPress Championship.  Who will brew the most delicious cup of Gikanda Cooperative coffee?
