South San Francisco, California (August 27, 2013) – For the ninth consecutive year, Torani invites customers to celebrate and support its Art for Kids program by purchasing its two limited-edition artist series bottles to benefit afterschool arts programs for children in the U.S. Launched in 2005, the program combining creativity and customer support has allowed Torani and its fans to raise more than $560,000 for the Afterschool Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting affordable, quality afterschool programs for children nationwide.

Each year Torani invites kids to enter their original artwork in a national contest that draws thousands of entries from which Torani selects, in a ‘blind’ review, the artwork to adorn commemorative labels. Torani donates five percent of all limited-edition Art for Kids Raspberry and Sugar Free French Vanilla flavor syrup sales, September 1 through December 31, 2012, to the Afterschool Alliance. The beautiful artist series bottles can be purchased online at www.torani.com , in store at Walmart, Cost Plus World Markets and other retailers, and spotted on shelves in cafes and restaurants nationwide.

This year’s winners are 11-year-old Lizzie, from the Farmington Public Library after-school program in Farmington, New Mexico and 8-year-old Emilia from the Young Rembrandts program in Cleveland, Ohio.

“These two after-school programs have submitted multiple winners each in the past nine years of Torani’s Art for Kids program with the Alliance. Farmington has had 3 winners, and the Young Rembrandts program has submitted 4,” explains Lisa Lucheta, Torani Principal. “We’re amazed at the level of artistic talent and the commitment by the programs’ directors. With the support of our customers, we’re fortunate to be able to give a substantial contribution to children’s educational and creative development. We’re proud that Torani’s Art for Kids inspires such creative expression.”

The winning artists each receive an awards plaque featuring their artwork and labels, and a case of commemorative bottled syrup. In addition, Torani honors the children with a celebratory party held at their afterschool program complete with Torani Italian sodas and pizza. The company also donates art supplies to the winners’ afterschool programs.

The Afterschool Alliance is a Washington, D.C.-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of after school programs and advocating for quality, affordable programs for all children.
