San Francisco’s Amsterdam Wafel Startup and Seattle’s Specialty Coffee Company to throw a groundbreaking Coffee, Tech and Art Event
San Francisco, CA: On August 16th, 500 luminaries from the coffee, tech and art communities will come together in a roastery warehouse in downtown Seattle, WA where they will mix, mingle and engage in conversation over generous pours of fantastic coffee and other specialty libations. Convergence Seattle 2014 boasts coffee from top-of-the-line roasters and the most cutting edge brewing equipment. There will be local artists on display, Rip van Wafels for snacking, raffle prizes sure to excite the crowds and to top it off the whole night will be set to the tunes of local musicians and underground DJs.
Last year’s inaugural Coffee, Tech, Art event, Mandala SF, hosted by Rip van Wafels and Blossom Coffee was a sold-out success featured in Eater and Sprudge. Sponsors included Sprudge.com, Blue Bottle Coffee, Equator Coffees & Teas, Slate Coffee Roasters, La Colombe Torrefaction, Mr. Espresso, Bay Area Coffee Community, UNIC USA, The Fingo, and Sourcery. The 400 attendees at the 2013 event were primarily from the San Francisco region, but this year Convergence will focus on the Seattle and Portland communities. CEO and Founder of Rip van Wafels, Rip Pruisken explains, “Seattle and Portland have everything from global coffee corporations and local micro-roasters such as Starbucks and Slate Coffee to large companies and burgeoning startups such as Microsoft and Simple. The area is a hotbed of specialty coffee and innovation and we are excited to bring these communities together to see what can happen.”
August 16th will mark the emergence of something truly creative out of the often disparate worlds of coffee, tech and art. It’s time to celebrate the unconventional ideas, deep discussions and interdisciplinary connections that catalyze when innovative people are brought together.
