Celebrate three world coffee competitions coming to Melbourne International Coffee Expo 2014 (MICE2014)

MICE2014-CGThe 2014 Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE2014) is set to be bigger and better as it prepares to host three international competitions and the largest dedicated coffee trade show in Australia.

MICE2014 will take place from 15 – 18 May 2014 at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Alongside the Australasian Specialty Coffee Championships, MICE2014 is proud to host the World Latte Art Championships, the World Cup Tasters Championships, and The World Coffee in Good Spirits Championships.

To celebrate these three events coming to Melbourne, MICE2014 will hold its official launch event on 27 November at the new Allpress Roastery in Collingwood, with first-of-its-kind, tongue-in-cheek coffee competition.

The competition, named Tough Barista, will see competitors put their coffee skills to the test in a coffee obstacle course, with three stages each representing one of the WCE comps. In relay teams of three, competitors will need to replicate a latte art design, taste the odd coffee out of three, then mix up a coffee cocktail to a set recipe. The team with the shortest time will be named the Toughest Baristas of Melbourne.

The teams’ entry fees for the Tough Barista competition this month will be donated to Coffee Kids, a charity that supports coffee growing families, and the official charity partner of MICE2014. In the last year, MICE has raised over $37,000 for Coffee Kids.
