Woods Coffee Opening First Skagit Coffee Shop on December 15

Woods Coffee Mount Vernon - InteriorBellingham, WA—December 11, 2014—The Woods Coffee today announced the launch of its first coffee shop in Skagit County, on College Way in Mount Vernon. With 14 locations in Whatcom County, the 12-year old Whatcom County based coffee shop has begun its expansion into Skagit County. The doors of Woods’ newest coffee shop will open to customers at 4:30 on Monday morning, December 15.

The Woods Coffee roasts its coffee in-house and bakes all of its own food from scratch at its Lynden, WA headquarters. Working with local farmers and vendors who supply fresh, natural ingredients for its bakery, Woods’ fresh-baked goods and coffee are delivered daily to each of its locations. In addition to baking its own goods and roasting all of its coffee locally, Woods works with farmers from all over the world to source the best coffee beans.

“I am thrilled to welcome The Wood’s Coffee to the City of Mount Vernon,” said Jill Boudreau, City of Mount Vernon mayor. “We especially value locally owned businesses as part of a vibrant hometown character.”

Woods hired 13 new employees to accommodate its new coffee shop, including 11 from Skagit County.

The new Woods Coffee is located at 1626 Freeway Drive, at the W. College Way exit of I-5.

“It has taken more than a few years to find the right place to start our first store in Skagit County,” said Wes Herman, owner of Woods Coffee. “Working with the City of Mt. Vernon has been a great experience. Jana Hanson’s (city planner) effort to work with us over the last year is why we are starting our first store in Mt. Vernon. We have been amazed at the outpouring of well wishers and folks who are looking forward to our arrival.”
