Luna Gourmet Continues Boyer’s Coffee Legacy; Donation to Denver Rescue Mission

November 23, 2015 – DENVER, Colo. – Jason and Douglass Barrow, owners of Colorado’s largest family-owned coffee roaster Luna Gourmet Coffee & Tea Company, bought Boyer’s Coffee in March 2015. With the acquisition came a three-decade tradition that the founder, Bill Boyer started with the Denver Rescue Mission.

“I met Mr. Boyer on my first day at the Mission, 24-years ago,” said Lisette Williams Manager of Community Relations at Denver Rescue Mission. “He was one of the kindest, gentlemen I had ever met. To be able to provide, delicious hot coffee for the poor and hungry as an added bonus with the food we serve was very kind for Jason and Doug to continue that generosity and we are so thankful and blessed to have them as neighbors in our community.”

Donating over 10,000 cups of coffee, Luna Gourmet felt it was imperative to continue the long-standing relationship Boyer started, who was often found serving behind counters at the Mission.

“Bill Boyer was ahead of his time with his community works, which aligns with those deep, philanthropic roots Luna Gourmet was founded upon,” said co-owner and President Jason Barrow. “That legacy lives on and we are honored to continue the tradition. Working with the Denver Rescue Mission allows us a platform to provide what we are so passionate about in coffee. We believe everyone should have access to a great cup of coffee, and the Mission’s passion to serve others is truly inspiring.”

Luna Gourmet continues to operate its ‘Family of Brands’ in Denver at the original OldSchool Roasthouse where Boyer opened his doors more than 42-years ago.

The freshly-roasted coffee will be served at this years’ Thanksgiving dinner, which the Denver Rescue Mission plans on providing about 124,000 meals throughout the holiday season.

As long as the Denver Rescue Mission is there to lend a hand to Coloradoans, Luna Gourmet will continue Boyer’s legacy and be there standing behind the Mission.
