This Tiny Gadget Promised It Could Make Espresso Anywhere—So I Took It Everywhere

The Wacaco Minipresso NS2 is a compact, lightweight, and easy-to-use espresso machine that can be used anywhere. Measuring just 2.36 by 2.75 by 5.07 inches, it is smaller than a water bottle but still has enough pressure to pull a good shot of espresso. The model takes Nespresso pods, which are easier to use while out and about compared to ground coffee. If you prefer to use your own beans, there’s another option.

To make an espresso, fill the top with hot water (I keep mine in a Yeti water bottle, which stays hot for 24 hours), pop in a Nespresso pod, and press on the piston in the front a few times. Perfectly creamy and rich espresso comes out the bottom every time I’ve used it. The bottom cap of the product doubles as an espresso cup, so I’m never without a drinking vessel.

Because of its compactness, lightweight, and easy-to-use design, my coffee drinking has skyrocketed while my spending at coffee shops has decreased. I’ve used this gadget at the beach, at the end of a hike, at my office, and even at home. It’s also perfect for making Espresso Martinis and affogatos.

The coffee it makes is actually good, just as good as any I’ve had from a Nespresso machine. For just $60, it makes it possible to have espresso anywhere, and for me, it has practically paid for itself.
