This new coffee machine introduces new ways for coffee lovers to enjoy perfectly prepared espresso via industrially compostable E.S.E. (Easy Serving Espresso) pods, the single-serve format with the ideal dose of coffee sandwiched between two layers of paper filters that illy pioneered in the 1970s and recently optimised, furthering illy’s long-standing commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2033.
Each E.S.E. pod contains the ideal amount of the illy blend, perfectly tamped and made entirely of Arabica coffee beans enclosed in filter paper specially designed to preserve the illy blend’s extraordinary aromas. illy has committed to reducing its reliance on plastic in product manufacturing and shipping by 175 tonnes per year as part of its ongoing #ONEMAKESTHEDIFFICULTY initiative. illy’s commitment to environmental protection and global communities has resulted in the company becoming the first and only Italian coffee company to receive B-Corp certification in April 2021.
The new X1 Anniversary E.S.E. & Ground coffee machine combines the iconic illy machine design with the versatility of two distinct brewing options in one stunning machine ideal for coffee and design connoisseurs. The machine is capable of producing café-quality espresso using either traditional ground coffee or E.S.E. pods. The eco mode fast-heating technology of the machine enables near-instant brewing for energy savings and convenience, the latter of which is aided by a standby mode that activates immediately following each brewing process. As visually appealing as it is functional, the Luca Trazzi-designed machine features a stainless-steel body, backlit water tank, ergonomic handle, and vintage 1935 illy logo prominently displayed behind the temperature gauge.
