National Barista Contest Coming to Klatch Coffee in Rancho Cucamonga

Klatch Coffee, a family-run coffee company and bean roaster, is set to host the 2024 U.S. Coffee Championships for baristas, brewers, and tasters from March 15-17. The company, founded by Mike and Cindy Perry last year, has seven stores in Ontario, Fontana, Chino Hills, San Dimas, Pasadena, and Redondo Beach, as well as its headquarters in Rancho Cucamonga. The competition is open to the public and is primarily for baristas in the region.

The competition is divided into three categories: Barista, Brewers Cup, and Cup Tasters. Baristas must prepare and serve espressos, milk beverages, and a signature beverage for sensory judges, while Brewers Cup competitors perform Compulsory and Open Service, highlighting manual brewing. Cup Tasters test entrants’ sensory skills by discerning taste differences in a “triangulation,” with the person with the most correct answers in the shortest amount of time winning.

Winners will represent the US in the World Championships, with only three champions for each competition. Klatch has award-winners on its staff, including Heather Perry, the CEO of Klatch, who is a USCC Barista Champion. The event is open to the public to view at spectate.

In summary, Klatch Coffee is hosting the 2024 U.S. Coffee Championships for baristas, brewers, and tasters between March 15-17. The competition is open to the public and is a national competition for all baristas in the US.
