Move Over, Starbucks. Coffee Chain That Started in New York Opening New Tacoma Shop.
Gregorys Coffee, a coffee shop founded in 2006 by Gregory Zamfotis, is set to open at the Tacoma Mall this fall. The coffee shop will be located near Center Court, a retail spot formerly occupied by Starbucks. The business specializes in its own ground coffee brands and offers home delivery. The menu includes various coffee brews, smoothies, teas, juices, sparkling water, croissants, and other breakfast items. Gregorys Coffee has opened its first Arizona location in July. The chain has 16 sites at Simon Property Group’s Tacoma Mall, including its 46th location in Arizona. The mall’s media representative confirmed that the Tacoma Gregorys site would open this fall, while Gregorys’ website lists a summer opening. A sign-permitting application was submitted in May, and a building-permit application for interior renovation of the former Starbucks site was submitted on August 1. The work is expected to start on August 30, but initial dates on such applications are generally speculative.
