All year long, I’m the type of person who appreciates an iced coffee. In fact, if I had to choose between the two, I’d nearly never choose the hot coffee drink. This may appear to be a controversial viewpoint, but it appears to be the general consensus these days, with Starbucks reporting that iced beverages account for the vast majority of their sales.
During the Starbucks 2021 Q3 earnings report, CEO Kevin Johnson stated that 74 percent of beverage sales in Q3 were classified as “cool,” which is a 10% growth over the previous two years. Similarly, a Starbucks spokeswoman noted at a recent press event that last year, iced pumpkin drinks outsold the hot Pumpkin Spiced Latte.
This may seem odd given the traditional nature of hot coffee, but remember that many individuals were trapped indoors due to the epidemic last fall and may have opted for an iced drink instead of a hot drink to keep them warm.
Despite the fact that iced drink popularity appears to be on the rise, there are a plethora of options to pick from at your favourite coffee shops to satisfy both your hot and cold drink desires.
Starbucks has introduced a new fall drink, the apple crisp macchiato, which is as delicious hot or cold, with each experience unique and enjoyable depending on your preference. Finally, do what you want, but consider this your official receipt to no longer be ashamed of drinking iced coffee all year.
