Midwest Coffee Chain Opens First Cedar Rapids Location

After 34 years, a new coffee shop is finally coming to Cedar Rapids.

In the 1980s, two brothers relocated from the west coast to Minnesota’s Twin Cities. They brought experience in the coffee industry and a plan that included roasting coffee in small batches, serving fresh coffee, providing an exceptional experience, and making a significant contribution to the community. That formula for success has worked magnificently well.

Ed and Dan Dunn opened the first Dunn Brothers Coffee location in 1987. There are now nearly 60 locations in seven states, including four in Wisconsin and five in Iowa, nearly three and a half decades later. A sixth location will open soon in the Hawkeye State, in Cedar Rapids.

Alexandra Seay and her husband DeAngelo are two of the four owners of Dunn Brothers Coffee, which will be located in Cedar Rapids. According to Alexandra, they also operate the Coralville store at 3824 Crosspark Road. With an average rating of 4.7 (out of 5) in 348 Google reviews, their involvement in the Cedar Rapids location is clearly beneficial.

Dunn Brothers Coffee roasts their coffee in small batches daily in their stores, ensuring the freshest coffee possible. Additionally, they offer a full breakfast and lunch menu, with all items prepared fresh, never frozen. As you can see from the photos below, everything looks delectable.

Dunn Brothers Coffee will open a location in Cedar Rapids at 1140 Blairs Ferry Road NE, just west of Target. Alexandra informed me that they anticipate opening around December 15.
