Cost of living crunch: Just the coffee, leave the muffin thanks
People are forgoing some of their daily luxuries in order to make ends meet as a result of record-high inflation.
Stuff’s crowdsourced anecdotal evidence revealed that some people had altered their spending habits due to inflation, with interviewees stating that they were purchasing less clothing, fewer coffees – or no muffin at all – and resisting the urge to upgrade to the newest iPhone.
One woman stated that she had reduced her spending to the bare minimum. No more branded groceries unless she could tell the difference, and a weekly treat of takeout coffee.
Another woman stated that she and her family no longer eat out or spend money on coffees, and she now cooks with frozen vegetables instead of fresh ones due to the rising cost of food.
