Good Walk Coffee Grows Its Footprint Beyond The Fairway

There are not many cans of cold-brew that include instructions. However, before you pop the pull tab on a Good Walk Coffee, waggle the can for optimal results. It stands to reason that coffee intended to fuel eighteen holes of golf would benefit from a consistent pre-shot routine.

“Our cans are infused with nitrous oxide. Thus, shaking or waggling slightly prior to opening imparts additional body and a hint of head, similar to a beer,” company founder Chris Mellow explains.

Three years ago, the upstart coffee brand founded on the peaceful and cosy relationship between a cup of Joe and a golfer up for an early morning dew-sweeping tee time opened its doors. They initially sold drip grind coffee, whole bean roasts, and K-cup pods online before expanding into retail and hospitality channels and offering in-room coffee to golf resorts.

Nitro Cold Brew ready-to-drink coffee in a can was introduced by Good Walk in August. While distribution is currently regional, with a growing presence in private clubs and golf bastions such as Pinehurst in the Carolinas, they are expanding nationally with the addition of canning capacity in San Diego and Indiana. By the end of 2022, the company expects to have 500 vendor accounts.

“Cold brew is the fastest growing new product category in the coffee industry, particularly ready-to-drink cans. It fits perfectly for us because golfers can grab one at the restaurant or snack shack at the turn and toss it in their cart,” Mellow explains.
