Training Program Enhancing Quality, Productivity of Coffee

Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority CEO Fikadu Adefirs has reported that field training for farmers has significantly improved the quality and productivity of coffee. The authority has implemented various activities to enhance coffee productivity and quality, with an average increase of 7.5 quintals per hectare from the previous 6 quintals. Over the next four years, activities are planned to cultivate 12 quintals per hectare and enhance coffee quality to first and second levels. Scientific activities such as treating acidic soil, disease prevention, and improving input utilization are being carried out in coffee cultivation. The training has been given in six coffee-producing regions. Adefirs urged research institutes, universities, and others to support the training, as it is crucial for improving coffee quality and productivity.
