Vietnam Expands Arrests in Coffee Region Property Probe

An ongoing investigation in Vietnam related to alleged bribery connected to a tourist and residential project has expanded as the authorities have detained Tran Duc Quan, the Communist Party chief of Lam Dong, a province known for its coffee production. Quan is accused of abusing his power, especially concerning the Dai Ninh property project in the province, leading to severe consequences. This arrest is part of a larger anti-corruption campaign led by the Communist Party that has been ongoing for several years and has involved senior leaders and company executives. In a related case in Lam Dong, an official in the central government office was arrested last year for allegedly abusing her position. Additionally, earlier this month, the Provincial Chairman, Tran Van Hiep, was arrested for allegedly accepting bribes connected to the same case.
