Starbucks Is Permanently Rolling Out Howard Schultz’s Olive-Oil Infused Coffee Creation Even After Mixed Reviews

Starbucks has introduced a new line of olive-oil coffees, the Oleato line, in the U.S. and Canada, following a successful rollout in other markets. The Oleato line includes Partanna extra virgin olive oil among its ingredients and includes six new beverages, including the Oleato Golden Foam Iced Shaken Espresso With Toffeenut and Oleato Caffe Latte With Oatmilk. Four cold foam versions are also available. Starbucks then-CEO Howard Schultz pushed for the fusion of olive oil and coffee after trying it in Sicily in 2022. The oil is steamed or shaken with oat milk to give it a creamier texture.

The unique flavor and texture created when Partanna extra virgin olive oil was infused into Starbucks coffee were described as unexpected, velvety, buttery, and lingering beautifully on the palate. While Starbucks has been thrilled with the response to the Oleato line, some customers have reported issues with digesting it. One Reddit user wrote that half the team tried the drink yesterday and a few ended up needing to use the restroom.

While some customers found the drink better than expected, others are more concerned about the aftereffects. Some customers have expressed dissatisfaction with the Oleato line and suggest that those with sensitive stomachs should not try it.
