Frank Liu, a pioneer of the East End redevelopment boom, has purchased the Farmer Brothers coffee facility just south of Navigation where Turkey Bend curves off Buffalo Bayou.
The acquisition is for just over six acres with 281,615 square feet of buildings, including a brick warehouse from 1935, Harris County records show. The coffee plant, which is still operating and has a three-year lease at the site, is at 235 N. Norwood.
The sales price was $10 million for the manufacturing facility and warehouse, according to a filing from publicly-traded Farmer Brothers, a national coffee roaster, wholesaler and distributor founded in 1912. Based in Northlake, north of Fort Worth, Farmers Brothers has been cutting costs amid declining profits and last year said it was selling the Houston property as part of “ongoing optimization efforts.”
