The move comes after Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker ordered all restaurants and bars across the state to cease dine-in as of Monday at 9 p.m. until the end of March.
“Over the last 24 hours, as more communities and local governments have called for increased social distancing to help contain the virus, our Roasteries in Seattle, Chicago and New York City will temporarily close starting Tuesday, March 17,” wrote a Starbucks spokesperson in response to an inquiry. “We do not have a reopening date to share at this time. As we all know, the situation with COVID-19 is extremely dynamic and we will continue to review the facts and science and work with local authorities to make the proactive decisions necessary to protect our partners, customers and communities.”
