Auckland coffee shop gobsmacked after donation box brazenly stolen from counter
A guy boldly took a contribution box for cancer patients from an Auckland coffee shop’s counter, leaving staff astonished.
On Monday afternoon, while entering Devonport’s Chiasso Coffee Roasters, CCTV footage shows the man lifting the item and concealing it under his puffer vest. There are two other persons in the store with him, but it’s unclear if they’re part of the same gang.
The coffee shop shared the CCTV footage on a community Facebook group in the hopes that someone in the area might recognise the thief.
“Keep your eyes peeled for this person (in the red hat). On Monday, he took our contribution box “they penned “Nice one, the money goes to helping individuals with cancer.”
The police were called by Newshub to check if the theft had been reported, but no official complaint had been filed. According to a representative, a complaint may have been filed using the 105 number for non-emergencies, but they are unable to access those data.
The theft of the donation park has sparked outrage in the community, with some labelling the man an “absolute scumbag” and a “lowlife”.
One asked, “Can you be any worse than taking money from sick patients?”
