Fighting Burnt Food Smells? Coffee Can Help

When you burn a meal, you not only waste perfectly good food, but you also fill your home with the odor of burnt food. No one desires this, but if you’re a coffee enthusiast, there’s a clever way to eliminate the odor.

There are multiple ways to eliminate burnt food odor using coffee beans. If you’re willing to sacrifice some beans, you have a solution right in your pantry.

If you are a frequent visitor to the perfume counter, this trick may not come as a surprise. Because smelling coffee beans clears the nose of a perfume’s scent, department stores frequently stock containers of coffee beans with perfume samples. Using beans in your home is equivalent.

If you’ve burned something in the microwave, you can use this tool to clean it and eliminate the odor.

Immediately remove anything that has been burned from your home. Grab a few small bowls, fill them with coffee beans, and place them throughout your kitchen and any other affected areas. The nitrogen in the beans will aid in masking the odor.

However, this is not the only benefit of coffee. If you’ve burned something in a pan, on a baking sheet, or in a dish, using used or fresh coffee grounds is an effective way to remove any burnt-on food and eliminate odors. Carefully scrub your pan with a rag or nonabrasive sponge containing a few coffee grounds, taking care not to scratch the surface.
