Star Wars space coffee, Disneyland’s most unusual drink, is one of its all-time best

Some people visit Disneyland because they know that no matter how much time passes or how many changes are made to the rides over time, things will remain basically the same. There will always be a Disneyland Railroad whistleblowing and a pink and rosy castle soaring over Main Street.

Some individuals visit for the exact opposite reason: there is always something new to discover in the parks, no matter how many times they visit. I’m one of the latter camp’s members. If there’s something new at Disneyland, I’m going to try it, especially if it’s a new snack.

In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I found myself standing at the register at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, ordering space coffee.

The Cold Brew Black Caf looks strange and sounds even stranger: it’s described on the menu as “cold brew coffee topped with sweet cream cheese and chocolate puffs,” which are essentially Cocoa Puffs. It made its debut when the space-themed restaurant reopened in June after a brief shutdown, and it has been making daily appearances on my social media feeds ever since — so of course I had to try it, even if the concept of cheese in my coffee seemed… well, like cheese in my coffee.

Having said that, I was expecting to enjoy it. I enjoy coffee and am a lover of any space cuisine – one of my favourite childhood delights is the “Astronaut Ice Cream,” which astronauts don’t actually eat but can be found in any planetarium gift shop I’ve ever visited. But I was still sceptical. I always have my coffee black and unsweetened, and I don’t recall the last time I ate sugary cereal.
