This artist wants you to pay $1,000 for a cup of coffee at his Miami Art Week pop-up

Would you be willing to spend $1,000 on a cup of coffee? Almost always, the response to this question is a resounding “Are you insane?” However, during Miami Art Week, when no price is too high and no common commodity is uninteresting enough to exploit, the query is entirely natural. Therefore, would you? Danny Casale, an artist, believes you might. The self-titled “Bad Animator,” a.k.a. Coolman Coffeedan, has teamed up with The Art Plug and Marcel Katz Art to open a Wynwood pop-up shop in celebration of Miami Art Week. Ur Special Coffee is the name of the establishment, which will open at The Bagel Club Miami.

Additionally, the shop will sell the world’s most expensive cup of coffee at a price of $1,000 per cup. Naturally, this is not your run-of-the-mill cortadito. Each cup will be brewed using Superlost Coffee’s new Sidra variety, a chic Colombian bean brewed exclusively for the pop-up. This bean exudes elegance. It mocks Starbucks and your neighbourhood roaster. We’re fairly certain it owns a condo in Aspen and is a member of the Ocean Reef Club.

Newbie Long-time resident Each (paper) cup will also feature Mr. Coffeedan’s one-of-a-kind original artwork. As a result, the price is quite high. Additionally, fans can purchase limited edition prints by the artist as well as limited edition Superlost Coffee bags featuring a screen print by Coolman Coffeedan. So what is it about riding the brown dragon that inspires the artist? “Coffeeshop culture holds a special place in my heart here in New York City,” Casale/Coffeedan stated in a press release.
