Dave Dussault, a thermal engineer and MIT grad, launched Snapchill in 2019 to improve coffee quality. The company uses a technology that brews coffee hot and then drops the temperature in seconds, similar to the same technology used in a refrigerator. The technology has a large surface area for heat transfer, allowing for quick and efficient heat transfer. Despite being sold under Boston-area roasters like George Howell Coffee, Fazenda Coffee Roasters, and Broadsheet Coffee Roasters, Snapchill is not a household name among coffee drinkers. However, this year, the company reached a breakthrough with Walmart, partnering with the company to create an exclusive brand called “In a Snap!” that will be sold in 2,200 Walmart stores.
