Starbucks Says Protestors Against Coffee Chain ‘Influenced by Misrepresentation’

Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan has said that protests against the company over its stance on the Israel-Hamas war have been influenced by misrepresentation on social media. He noted that many Starbucks stores have experienced vandalism incidents and has worked with local authorities to ensure worker and customer safety. Starbucks is among several Western brands facing pressure from consumers calling for companies to take a stance in the Israel-Hamas war, with some even facing boycott campaigns in some Arab countries. In October, Starbucks sued the Workers United union after the union posted a statement on social media that the company reflected its support for violence by Hamas.
