Many corporations have mission statements posted on their websites, but few firms live up to those ideals as closely as Black Rifle Coffee Co., a Salt Lake City-based startup that is founded and staffed by combat veterans.
Mike Shain, founder of Thanks To Yanks, recently collaborated with Upton-based Red Barn Coffee Roasters to create a Milford Fire Department brand of coffee. Shain then donated bags of the “Milford Firehouse Roast” to local stations.
It’s being organized by Combat Coffee founder William Cambardella and spotlights veteran-owned coffee makers. Called “The Science of Coffee Making,” it’s meant to explain how the coffee sourcing and retail business works while highlighting its connection to the military.
After 15 years of military service, he co-founded Black Rifle Coffee with some of his fellow veterans, and turned it into an $80 million coffee empire.
