S&D Contributes Significant Gift to Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast

S&D Coffee & Tea, the nation’s largest custom coffee roaster and supplier of iced tea to the foodservice industry, has announced a gift of $150,000 over the course of the next five years to NorthEast Foundation, the non-profit entity supporting Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast (CHS-NE). The gift is in addition to the nearly $500,000 the company has already contributed to NorthEast Foundation and will be used to benefit the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, located on the campus of CHS-NE.
“As one of the state’s largest private companies and a major employer in Concord, S&D is dedicated to supporting non-profits in our community — whether through volunteer hours, employee fundraising efforts or corporate donations,” said Ron Hinson, chairman, president and chief executive officer with S&D Coffee & Tea. “We are proud to contribute to the important work the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital is doing in the lives of children that need it most.”
In a ribbon-cutting ceremony held yesterday, representatives from S&D Coffee & Tea and CHS-NE unveiled a branded plaque in the pediatric waiting area of the emergency department to commemorate the gift.
“We are extremely grateful to the many years of support from S&D Coffee and Tea to the NorthEast Foundation,” said Charlie Sastoque, NorthEast Foundation President. “As a community partner S&D Coffee and Tea has impacted our hospital through their generosity for over 20 years. They are strong supporters of our mission and dedicated to exceptional healthcare for all. This special gift will impact the children of our community right here at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast and the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital.”
