Maine’s Coffee By Design Updates its Logo and Brand Identity
PORTLAND, Maine – Coffee By Design, one of the first specialty coffee roasters based in Maine, is celebrating its 23 years in business by introducing a new logo and look that reflects the company’s commitment to its coffee community as well as to its geographic community. This is the first time their logo has changed since the company was founded in 1994.
Mary Allen Lindemann, co-owner and co-founder of CBD, spoke of the new branding, “We have grown steadily for 23 years and the time has come for our look — our logo, cups, packaging and signage — to evolve. We wanted the look of CBD to reflect the values which continue to be core to our business. At the same time, we want it to reflect how our community coffee company has evolved into great cups of coffee and a whole lot more. We are excited to share our new look, moving from the initial single cup into “three,” making our image more contemporary and forward-looking.”
Co-owner and co-founder Alan Spear added, “Customers can expect the same great coffee and same amazing team, working hard to deliver excellent experiences. We hope that the passion and hard work that went into this project will be seen by our customers as something new, something special.”
The new look is rolling out in phases, with customers getting a first look at the new logo on coffee cups, in-store signage and on merchandise beginning on February 15. Other items, including an enhanced website, and new bags, will be out in the new year. Partners Mary Allen Lindemann and Alan Spear worked closely with Toderico Creative on all aspects of the design. The new logo, a three-cup CBD logo, is an evolution of the original singular cup logo, to directly align with the company’s steady expansion over time and to celebrate the neighborhood coffeehouse and larger community. The website will reflect the global partnerships, sourcing, roasting, blending, and brewing that is central to CBD. In addition, the company’s continued dedication to creativity and the arts, through its art commissions and grants, will be highlighted.
Introducing: Coffee Man
As part of the new branding roll out, a sculpture titled “Coffee Man,” made entirely of recycled CBD cups by Portland-based artist Kimberly Curry, will be on display as an artistic means to honor the history of Coffee By Design’s founding logo.
